Starfighter

"Has potential"

submission: Starfighter
date: April 20, 2005

This was actually pretty fun, despite the annoyance of not being able to enjoy enough upgrades or save or resume levels. But the A.I. was pretty amusing, as was the...ah...thing. Well, that provided momentary amusement, up to the point where I tried to pause but ended up losing all my progress.

MMZ - The Last Cataclysm

"Megaman Zero? More like MegaMAN Zero! Wait...no..."

date: April 12, 2005

On the plus side, I have to say that this is quite a high-end Megaman flash, with the best audio and visual I've seen yet (though I supposed I'd have to look at more MM flash for this to carry much merit). I especially thought the voice acting on the Three Whatcha-callit's was pretty decent. It's a good touch; bravo!

But on the minus side, there's Zero. Zero's solo fight had a bit too much "battle-conversation" and "grunting," as well as what felt like a less than awesome pacing (though the choreography was nice). That, and I thought it puzzling that he accepted his ex-enemies' aid so...easily. No questions, no doubt, no suspicion - just a kind of hoohah-let's-kill-more-stuff response. But I suppose that IS the essence of the Megaman series, isn't it?

Traffic Control 2

"The memories come flooding back..."

submission: Traffic Control 2

What an uncanny touch of nostalgia! It reminds me of playing nameless titles on a famicom in my grandparents' house in Taiwan...

In other words: Groovy.

Interactive Buddy v.1.01

"Much applause to you"

date: February 9, 2005

You did it! I tried to make a physics engine once and was stumped by the locking pieces, but you managed to get it together and make a funky little man that runs away from stuff and...stuff. Plus, you got all the cool effects like lighting and smoke and fire. A rubber floor mode might be cool, by the way. But anyhow, bravo!

"Ho?"

Aw man, I love this stuff. Nice execution! And I also enjoyed your depiction of the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future. Especially Present.

"Like Looney Toons! Except not so happy."

submission: Doofie
date: February 5, 2005

Sweet, man. I loved the animation, like the swaying of his hands and his jumping into the death-cart. The artwork, while simple, was nicely done, too. Keep it up; it's lookin' good.

"What a blast of nostalgia"

date: October 21, 2004

How...geometric. Anyhow, that was pretty funny, and makes up for the squares & circles graphics! Just one question: Have you ever used Klik & Play? I swear some of those sounds were included in that program's library...

Author's Response:

Actually, just about every sound came out of that library.

The Brick Game

"Needs a unique touch..."

submission: The Brick Game
date: October 14, 2004

The kinematics in this were kinda sketchy - you may want to think what path the ball ought to take when hitting different areas of the block/paddle from different angles. Other than that (and the problem of the ball's y-velocity missing the paddle altogether), it's a pretty accurate rendition of the original.
In the future, though, when you remake an old game or expand on it, you may want to consider adding your own original elements. Otherwise, it's not really anything new. For instance, you could have the ball accelerate towards the paddle when the mouse button is down or something. Well, good luck in your future endeavors!

Author's Response:

Excellent review and suggestions, thanks!

Mega Man vs. Quick Man

"(|:3)"

date: October 11, 2004

I liked how you showed his ability-shifting. I don't understand why Megaman bleeds, but I also don't understand Megaman, so I can't say why he should or shouldn't. Anyhow, nice animation, as far as motion goes. Art-wise it's not impressive, but everything else makes up for it.

I was half-expecting to see the enemy life-bar fill up when Quickman made his appearance. Heh.

Fairy Sorrow

"Impressive eye candy"

submission: Fairy Sorrow
date: June 16, 2004

Wow, that's quite an animation you've made there. I'm impressed with the fluid motion and the camera movement. I found the sequence of events a little odd at the beginning, but that doesn't keep this from being excellent eye candy. Keep up the good work, man.
